Position Summary
The Camp Cabin Leader is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging living environment for campers with physical and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on daily care, supervision, and fostering independence while ensuring each camper has a meaningful and inclusive camp experience. The Cabin Leader serves as a primary point of support, building strong relationships with campers and promoting a sense of belonging within the cabin group.

What You'll Do
Create a Positive Cabin Community
- Build a welcoming, inclusive, and structured cabin environment
- Establish routines that promote comfort, independence, and success
- Help campers feel safe, valued, and part of a team
Provide Hands-On Support
- Assist with daily living needs (hygiene, dressing, toileting, feeding as needed)
- Support mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment
- Encourage independence while providing the right level of support
Ensure Safety & Wellbeing
- Maintain active supervision at all times
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures
- Use de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
Engage in the Camp Experience
- Participate in daily activities alongside campers
- Encourage involvement and social interaction
- Be a positive, energetic role model
What You Bring
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a team-first mindset
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Camp or residential program experience
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with behavior support strategies
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals with mobility needs
- Ability to stay active and engaged throughout the day
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
