    Campus Aide Requirements: ? High School Diploma or equivalent required ? 1+ year experience working with or supervising students in a school or youth-serving setting ? Familiarity with school procedures, safety expectations, and student behavior support ? Demonstrated reliability, urgency, and responsibility in student supervision Bilingual English/Spanish a plus Essential Duties: ? Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, recess, and lunch ? Maintain safe, structured, and positive campus environments ? Reinforce school behavior standards and expectations ? Respond to incidents promptly and escalate concerns to staff/leadership ? Support implementation of behavior or academic goal plans for assigned students ? Use restorative practices to resolve conflicts and guide student reflection ? Manage playground and lunch areas, including setup, cleanup, and equipment oversight ? Participate in required trainings and school meetings

    The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is a K-8 public charter school located in Canoga Park, with the mission of bringing together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and interpersonal success. Our Spanish/English dual language model allows children of both language backgrounds to learn side-by-side gaining respect of each other s cultures and learning to communicate in each other s languages.

    Overview

    The Campus Aide will provide for the welfare and safety of the students and maintain campus control.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed but not limited to:

    • Supervise and assist students during before school student drop off, recess, lunch, free playtimes, restroom breaks and other student activities to ensure safe and appropriate behavior
    • Monitor playgrounds and pathways to ensure safe physical conditions for students; report

    unsafe conditions to supervisor, as appropriate

    • Responsible for all equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of program areas including special projects and lunch/snack areas
    • Involve and monitor children in all program activities
    • Enforce and model MLC behavior standards (caring, safety, responsibility, respect and tolerance) while supervising student activity
    • Prevent student conflicts and fights according to established guidelines and intervene as necessary
    • Advise students of consequences if rules are violated as necessary
    • Report to teachers about the students' positive and negative conduct
    • Report to Program Coordinator any behavioral concerns and/or incidents involving students
    • Provide assistance in the supervision of students in the classroom, as needed
    • Administer CPR and basic first aid, ensuring that the school site office is notified of injured students and that accident reports are filed, as needed
    • Ensure the safety of children at all times
    • Attend monthly meetings and/or trainings
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience working with and motivating groups of children while maintaining school standards
    • Knowledge of appropriate laws and regulations relating to student safety and security matters
    • Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions and use a walkie talkie effectively
    • Ability to supervise campus areas
    • Ability to consistently enforce discipline policies in a respectful but stern manner
    • Knowledge of health and safety aspects of playground supervision
    • Establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relations with students, teachers, administrators, parents and coworkers
    • Objectively assess problem situations
    • Occasionally work under physically and mentally stressful conditions

    Specific Requirements:

    • Employment contingent upon clearance of Live Scan and TB test results
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not necessary
    • A desire to serve children
    • Experience with recreational leadership, a plus

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to stand & walk for an extended period of time on even and uneven surfaces including sand
    • Ability to see for purposes of reading laws, codes, rules policies, instructions, and other printed materials & observe children
    • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
    • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
    • Ability to bend, twist, and kneel
    • Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs.
    • Ability to reach in all directions
    • Ability to work outdoors which is marked to change in temperatures, humidity, sun, wind, dust & dirt.
