CU Boulder encourages applications for a Campus Bus Driver - Trainee position! This position provides the necessary skills, training, and experience to acquire a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement to drive university fleet commercial motor vehicles. The role is expected to complete required training, including training for a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement (classroom, range, road training, & on the job).
This role will be trained in a variety of vehicles and classroom techniques. Once certified to operate specific vehicles, the incumbent ensures prompt transit for campus affiliates and guests in consideration of their needs, vehicle operational capacity, and road conditions. The position provides safe transportation in university buses and other types of vehicles to and from various destinations. Trips involve fixed routes and charter/shuttle services that may include driving in the mountains, on freeways, urban, local, and long-distance driving.
Per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, all drivers must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

The University of Colorado vehicle fleet numbers over 600; a robust transit system moving 1.4 million riders per year at the University of Colorado-Boulder campus; and guidance for driver operations for campuses located in Aurora, Boulder, and Denver.

The hourly pay rate for this position will start at $22.50, and upon obtaining a CDL, the wage will increase to $25.00 per hour.

Experience operating equipment related to the work assignment, especially experience operating a bus with HOP, RTD (including fixed-route contractors), or a school bus.
