Job Purpose/Description
To assist in running and maintaining the Burns Wellness Commons Campus Fitness facilities and programs in a safe, clean, and inclusive atmosphere that will attract students, faculty/staff, alumni, and sisters. This includes all areas of the Burns Wellness Commons, the front desk, cardio fitness area, fieldhouse, and weight room.
Job Duties
- Provide a safe, clean atmosphere that will attract students, faculty/staff, alumni, and sisters.
- Manage the front desk/cardio area including greeting guests and providing direction if needed, selling memberships and day passes, coordinating rentals to the facilities director, and assisting students with reservations of fieldhouse courts.
- Entering reservations into the EMS system and setting up recreational equipment for fieldhouse activities.
- Assist with the cardiovascular and weight room equipment management.
- Clean and maintain all areas of the facility (including mopping, sweeping, sanitizing, etc.) through following a shift checklist of cleaning duties. These areas include the upstairs fitness facility and front desk, downstairs weight room, fitness studio, Fieldhouse, the Reif, laundry room, and entrances and hallways.
- Prevent any mistreatment of equipment.
- Available to answer any questions regarding certain equipment usage or comfort providing a spot for weight room activities if asked.
- Give proper advice on how to use equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a positive customer service environment by greeting guests and acquiring membership and usage data at the front desk and weight room desk.
- Monitor security cameras stationed at the front desk.
- Assist with laundering fitness facility towels and athletic team laundry.
- Enforce Burns Wellness Commons Fitness Center facility rules and regulations.
- Participate in yearly training and other training as assigned.
- Regularly schedule 2 shifts per week minimum and 1 weekend shift per half semester.
- Assist periodically with ticket sales related to athletic events.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current or incoming CSS student
- Federal work study eligibility is required
- Students must maintain current accredited CPR certification.
- The ability to lift ranges of weight up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to work 2 shifts weekly and 3 weekend shift minimum per half semester.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering customer service and with sales.
- Experience handling multiple requests, must be detail-oriented.
- Experience with weight room equipment and/or spotting and safety techniques.
- Interest in gaining experience to supplement a career in a health-allied field.
