Primary Purpose:

Serve as an instructional coach to be responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. The instructional coach focuses on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-based effective instruction. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and/or revise district curriculum.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Master's degree, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to organize and coordinate district wide program

Ability to interpret data

Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Recommended minimum of three (3) years of successful elementary or secondary teaching experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform random quality checks on all classroom assignments for cognitive alignment with TEKS/Alt-TEKS.
  • Assist in developing instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes.
  • Consult with Coordinator of Special Education around curriculum resources.
  • Assist in providing instructional strategies within the classroom setting.
  • Assist with mentoring of teachers.
  • Assist teachers to develop and provide students with alternative course work through curriculum modification, acceleration, etc.
  • Provide input on the development/presentation of staff development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction, enriched learning in classroom settings, and methods for identifying levels of students.
  • Work with stakeholders to coordinate academic program implementation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure the development and implementation of IEP's that fulfill the requirements of IDEA.
  • Coordinate with campus administrators to provide extended learning opportunities for identified students.
  • Assist with the coordination of the state mandated assessment program as needed.
  • Conduct and provide staff development workshops/trainings as requested by administration.
  • Provide curriculum resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals and in promoting student achievement.
  • Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
  • Train all Special Education staff on ARD Development.
  • Conduct program evaluations
  • Assist teachers with implementation of IEP's and scheduling.
  • Work with campus administration on Special Education schedules.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to school teams on change of placement considerations.
