Department Mail Job Purpose

The Campus Mail Carrier is responsible for collecting, processing, and delivering interoffice mail, student mail, and packages across campus.

Essential Duties

  • Loads and prepares delivery vehicles for daily routes
  • Performs scheduled pick-ups and deliveries on and off campus
  • Sorts incoming campus and departmental mail and packages
  • Delivers mail and packages accurately to designated locations
  • Processes incoming student mail and packages using notification and routing software; organizes items according to established storage systems
  • Assists students with mail and package retrieval according to standard procedures
  • Processes student forwarding address requests as needed
  • Sorts and prepares outgoing mail and packages in compliance with USPS regulations
  • Operates computer-based mailing equipment and software for standard and bulk mailings
  • Provides customer service at the counter, including postage sales and cash drawer management

Additional Skills Required

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in using computers, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Shows good grammar, spelling, and basic math skills
  • Possesses a valid driver's license
  • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person's worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
