Position Summary:
Campus Public Safety at Western Oregon University is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors across university-owned properties. The department serves approximately 157 acres, more than 60 buildings totaling over 1.3 million square feet, including the Monmouth campus and an additional facility located at 525 Trade Street in Salem, Oregon. The department reports to the Assistant Vice President of Safety and Operations and includes an associate director, public safety officers, occupational and environmental health and safety officer, parking manager, office manager, and student employees.
Uniformed public safety officers provide 24-hour coverage and are responsible for detecting and deterring criminal activity, responding to emergencies, criminal incidents, and medical situations, and offering public assistance. Duties include building security, event security, crime prevention programming, parking enforcement, crowd control, investigations, report writing, and vehicle and medical assists. Officers enforce state and local laws, university policies, and conduct codes. The position requires flexibility to work any shift and includes the authority to arrest individuals with probable cause and to ban individuals from university property. Campus Public Safety works closely with local law enforcement agencies to investigate and respond to crimes.

Required Qualifications:
