Job Summary

The Campus Recreation Coordinator serves as an integral part of promoting a vibrant

campus in a wellness framework. The position manages the Oberlin College Lanes, a six-lane bowling center that serves as an integral program for both the college and Oberlin city communities. A successful Campus Recreation Coordinator assists the Director of Campus Recreation with intramural and club sports development. Finally, this position will oversee the scheduling and use of Hales Annex Gymnasium.

Responsibilities

  • Bowling Lanes

  • Coordinate scheduling of the bowling lanes and billiards room.

  • Develop, promote, administer, and maintain statistical records for organized bowling and billiards programs, including leagues and tournaments.

  • Manage bowling lanes' budget and revenue processes.

  • Coordinate daily cleaning and conditioning of bowling lanes.

  • Teach one or two Physical Education courses each semester as a Lecturer in Athletics.

  • Serve as the advisor for the Oberlin College Club Bowling team.

  • Recreation

  • Manage the Oberlin College Campus Recreation Intramural program.

  • Implement recreational sports programming for the Office of Student Leadership and

Involvement (non-club sports).

  • Consult with the campus partners to infuse wellness principles into Campus Recreation programming, including bowling, intramurals, and clubs.

  • Utilize IMLeagues to communicate with students, register teams, and schedule intramural sports leagues and tournaments.

  • Schedule spaces for intramural sports and communicate with the Facilities Department for field and equipment needs.

  • Consult with Student Organizations on intramural sports leagues and tournaments.

  • Supervision

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student staff for College Lanes and intramural sports

  • Oversee an intramural sports internship program including intramural supervisors, scorekeepers, and officials.

  • Administrative

  • Serve as the Building Representative for Hales Annex.

  • Schedule Hales Annex using EMS software.

  • Manage Hales Annex building maintenance requests.

  • Oversee backyard games equipment, schedule, and support campus organizations in reserving equipment, promoting student engagement through play.

  • Miscellaneous

  • Assist the Director of Campus Recreation in leading the intramural and club sports programs.

  • Coordinate "Homecoming" programming on behalf of the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement.

  • Attend programs, including night-time and weekend programming, as an agent of the institution.

  • Participate in professional development organizations, including, but not limited to, ACPA, NASPA, ACUI, NACA, GLCA, NIRSA, ORSA, and COFHE.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions Marginal Job Functions Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work on several large projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the Google Suite.
  • Significant experience in training, team building/facilitation, co-curricular event planning,

assessment, and mentoring/coaching with diverse constituencies.

  • Experience with budget management and financial systems, including problem-solving,

collaboration, partnership development, and counseling/human relationships within a

supervisory role.

  • Experience with event planning.
  • Ability to work as part of a team within an office and collaborate with campus partners.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience supervising student staff.
  • Coaching background or work experience related to direct oversight of sports.
  • Experience servicing bowling lane equipment or a desire to learn.
