Position Summary:
Pierce College is seeking to fill two vacancies on the Campus Safety Program Support team! Both positions are a full-time, permanent, classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District and is are not eligible for telework. This position reports directly to the District Director of Emergency Preparedness and Campus Safety and requires regular and consistent attendance.
Program Coordinator: The salary range for this position is $45,732.00-$54,204.00 annually, depending on qualifications, with periodic increments up to $55,584.00 annually. On July 1st, 2026 this position will receive a cost-of-living pay increase of 2%. This positions primary work location is the Pierce College Puyallup campus.
Program Specialist 2: The salary range for this position is $47,988.00-$56,880.00 annually, depending on qualifications, with periodic increments up to $58,380.00 annually. On July 1st, 2026 this position will receive a cost-of-living pay increase of 2%. This positions primary work location is the Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus.

Program Coordinator:
The Campus Safety Program Coordinator provides customer service to students, employees and the general public while maintaining communication with Campus Safety Officers. Under general supervision, performs work using knowledge and experience specific to the program, and is responsible for processing and maintaining a variety of records and associated databases in support of reporting, budgeting, parking permit and ticket processing, key/access card tracking and issuance.
This position actively supports and engages in Pierce College's goals for equity and inclusion in order to provide access and support for our diverse community of learners and our goal of becoming an anti-racist institution. This position reports to the Campus Safety Sergeant. This position requires regular and consistent attendance.
Program Specialist 2:
The Campus Safety Program Specialist 2 provides customer service to students, employees, and the general public while communicating with Campus Safety Officers to facilitate response to various situations. Under general direction, performs work using knowledge and experience specific to the program; also responsible for processing and maintaining various records and associated databases supporting reporting, budgeting, parking permit, ticket processing, key/access card tracking, and issuance.
Other duties and responsibilities include maintaining the Drivers Safety Program, conducting background investigations, assisting with the implementation and visitor management, lost and found items, and training. Responsible for general clerical duties including, but not limited to, managing paperwork, handling department mail, data entry, making copies, ordering supplies, and scheduling equipment repairs. Compiles data and prepares reports and presentations. Assist in running reports related to crime statistics, calls for service, and other security metrics.
As the Campus Safety Program Specialist 2, the incumbent is entrusted with managing all aspects of the Pierce College District's Clery and Fire Safety Programs. This includes planning, coordinating, and implementing all functions required by the activity, such as providing Clery training, classifying crimes, collecting and screening crime data, and preparing the annual report in accordance with Federal law.
The incumbent to this position is expected to independently advise students, staff, program participants, and the public regarding Clery program content, Pierce College policies, administrative procedures, Campus Safety department standard operating procedures (SOPs), and activities and recommend alternative courses of action, and project, monitor, maintain, initiate expenditures on program budgets. This position reports to the Campus Safety Sergeant. This position requires regular and consistent attendance.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) classified, overtime-eligible position with Pierce College District. This position is permanent after serving a 6-month probationary period. The Program Coordinator's primary work location will be at Pierce College's Puyallup Campus. The Program Specialist 2's primary work location will be at Pierce College's Fort Steilacoom Campus. Occasional travel to Pierce College campuses or sites may occur. Work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekend work, and occasional travel as required. This position may be subject to reassignment between campuses or sites. This position may be eligible for occasional remote work once the incumbent is established in the role. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Program Coordinator: The salary range for this position is $45,732.00 - $54,204.00 annually, depending on qualifications, with periodic increments up to $55,584.00 annually.
Program Specialist 2: The salary range for this position is $47,988.00 - $56,880.00 annually, depending on qualifications, with periodic increments up to $58,380.00 annually.
However, your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package which is worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary. Physical Work Environment
This position is required to work indoors in an open office environment, which requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity, precision, and is subject to frequent noise and interruptions.

Retirement and Supplemental Plans
Classified Pierce College Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems web site.
Employees also have the ability to participate in the state Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) and the State Board Voluntary Investment Program (SBVIP), administered by TIAA-CREF. These are supplemental retirement savings programs (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
Leave
Classified employees begin accruing 9.33 hours of vacation and 8 hours of sick leave starting their first month of employment. The amount of vacation an employee can accrue increases the longer they work with us (up to a maximum of 16 hours, 40 minutes per month after twenty-five years of service). A maximum of 30 working days (280 hours) of vacation may be accumulated. Employees also receive two personal leave days after four months of employment.
Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Holidays
Full-time employees are entitled to ten paid holidays and a personal holiday of their choice (may be used after four months of employment).
Tuition Reimbursement
Permanent Classified employees working half-time or more may take space-available classes for $5 per quarter with the Tuition Waiver program (typically after a 6 month probationary period).
