Responsible for the overall operations of the assigned Campuses' Stores. Maintains Campus Store operations, including textbooks, point of sale operation, customer service and staffing. There will be a considerable amount of public contact, primarily with students. Duties may be performed with little or no supervision; however, procedures for transacting business are well-defined.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. The Campus Store's regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, work schedules are based on operational needs and may vary, with shifts scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required to support college events, special activities, inventory, and other operational needs.

Essential Job Functions

Description of Job Function

  1. Manages overall Campus Store operation of assigned Campuses, overseeing the shipping and receiving of all store merchandise. Assists in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for campus store operations.

  2. Manages and supervises sales associates, work study employees, and temporary help. Hires, trains, and schedules the team.

  3. Ensures positive and consistent customer service. Responds and resolves customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback, handling complicated or escalated concerns in a timely manner. Assists customers with financial issues and updating their funds. Researches student or department information in Banner.

  4. Oversees department projects and services as assigned (e.g., passport program, notary services, ambassador program, etc.).

  5. Maintains proper inventory levels of all items for resale. Oversees, coordinates. and manages the purchasing of convenience items (e.g., snacks, beverages, etc.) at their store location. Ensures products are stocked and displayed properly.

  6. Oversees point of sale, payment, and campus store management systems, to include credit card processing and inventory systems.

  7. Acts as director's liaison in the Campus Store of assigned location.

  8. Maintains internal controls for payment collection and safeguarding against loss. Enforces cash safe procedures.

  9. Plans and leads inventory counts. Schedules and trains team members on counting procedures. Ensures proper inventory levels of all items for resale are maintained appropriately.

  10. Oversees cash receipts, inventory, sales reporting, transaction reconciliation, etc. Submits documentation and associated reports in a timely manner. Generates daily cash reports.

  11. Presents new trends or products to internal and external customers, customer groups, or departments.

  12. Maintains communication with the appropriate staff and other managers regarding all aspects of the Campus Stores to ensure consistency in operations. Participates in regular meetings to share and discuss ideas.

  13. Supervises the loading and unloading of items from the smart locker. Trains users and troubleshoots as needed.

  14. Maintains the back-office Campus Store management system in daily retail processes.

  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Education Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions. Required Field of Study Other Required Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience in retail or related area to include such things as ordering, pricing, merchandising of products, sales, customer service, and general accounting; establishing adequate stock and inventory controls; and supervising and leading others.

This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College's worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
