Summary:
The CapEx Safety Manager creates and oversees the safety documentation and safety organization for all Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects. This position works with contractor safety organizations to ensure they operate under strict safety regulations and protocols, ensuring all CapEx projects are delivered safely. The Safety Manager collects and shares safety alerts across the company organization and develops comprehensive monthly safety reports. All procedures and documentation are maintained in accordance with MSHA/OSHA requirements and CRH Life-Saving Rules.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Reviews existing Company and CRH Group safety policies, procedures, and documentation for assigned projects to ensure they are up to date and consistent with regulatory requirements.
- Reviews contract safety requirements for suppliers and contractors to ensure they are consistent with the scope of work and company/CRH Group policies.
- Collaborates with the procurement department during bid alignment to ensure bidder safety specifications are in line with contract safety requirements; interviews contractors and suppliers to verify their safety awareness, policyalign with contract safety requirements; interviews contractors and suppliers to verify that their safety awareness, policies, culture, and statistics align with company and CRH Group expectations.
- Carries out safety risk assessments to verify whether the existing plant safety organization can manage the site or if a dedicated safety team is required on site based on the complexity of job sites.
- Set up the safety organization in coordination with plant safety management or, where necessary, hire a dedicated safety manager for the specific job site.
- Issue the safety alert and review the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with site personnel; ensure all lessons learned and safety improvements are implemented in the event of an accident or High Potential Learning Event (HPLE).
- Provides personnel with safety-related information, including training sessions, emergency protocols, and proper use of safety equipment.
- Oversees job site daily operations and identifies opportunities for improvement of safety regulations
- Performs safety audits and physically inspects all work areas and job sites to identify possible safety issues.
- Conducts risk assessments as required to minimize workplace accidents.
- Prepares monthly safety reports and presents performance information to management.
- Develops and implements workplace safety policies and procedures in accordance with MSHA/OSHA standards and CRH Life-Saving Rules.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in safety or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a lead technical role in the mining and cement industry
- Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, and signs in English.
- Construction and project knowledge; experience managing contractor safety organizations on capital project job sites.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously across complex, multi-site CapEx programs.
- Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulatory requirements and CRH Life-Saving Rules; experience with contractor bid alignment and safety specification review.
- Experience conducting safety risk assessments, safety audits, and root cause analyses.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite; ability to develop and deliver effective safety training and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with contractors, site personnel, and management at all organizational levels.
- Minimum of 50% travel in the United States and Canada
Compensation:
- Compensation: $125,100.00 - $152,900.00 USD
- Eligible for yearly bonus
