King County Housing Authority is currently seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Capital Construction Coordinator. In this position, you will serve as the liaison between the Capital Construction and Property Management teams, overseeing all aspects of a portfolio of construction projects from inception to completion. Two positions may be filled through this recruitment process.
As a key member of the Project Team, you will be involved from project initiation through development and completion. Your responsibilities include monitoring construction sites and contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, budgets, and safety regulations, and maintaining the standards set forth in the project contract. A critical component of this role is enforcing compliance with the contractor's onsite Safety Plan and safeguarding residents during projects that require occupied sites. You may also be called upon to perform constructability reviews both within and outside the Project Team.
The ideal candidate will possess practical, hands-on experience in the construction field/trades, the ability to analyze, review, and interpret building construction plans and specifications, and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. As the Construction Coordinator, you will report to the Capital Construction Program Manager, based at our Central Office in Tukwila, WA.

Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting building construction plans, details, and specifications.
Knowledge of principles and practices used in various building construction trades areas including, but not limited to:
Proper construction techniques and contract compliance.
Standard building materials.
State building codes and county and state ordinances.
Coordination with local jurisdictions.
Permitting processes, local and state inspection requirements.
Documentation preparation and scheduling.
Applies effective written and verbal communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages to internal and external partners, exercises tact and diplomacy.
Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions, and implements recommendations; demonstrates critical, creative, and reflective thinking; ability to exercise independent decision making.
Effectively organizes multiple assignments, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities, to produce work products that are accurate, thorough and on time.
Understands energy issues and audit techniques; ability to operate pressure testing equipment, and the ability to utilize cost effectiveness software.
Demonstrates responsible personal and professional conduct, which contributes to the overall mission and goals of KCHA; accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work; ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Training in construction related areas such as building code enforcement, hazardous material assessments such as lead risk and asbestos, and combustion safety is desirable for some positions.

Salary & Benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is $87,978.83 - $105,573.98 annually, dependent on qualifications and professional experience. The complete salary range for this position is $87,978.83 - $123,170.15 annually. Performance-based merit increase opportunities and Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) are reviewed annually. Work Environment:
Employees must reside in Washington State and the ability to report to the Central Office in Tukwila will be required. Some local and domestic travel may be required to support KCHA business needs.
