Job Title: Capital Project Site Engineer
Location: North Chicago, IL
Hire Type: Long-term Contract (1+ Year), Onsite
Target Pay Rate: $65.00 - $80.00/hour (W2)

Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to lead capital construction and facility improvement projects supporting GMP manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office facilities. This individual will serve as the owner's representative, managing projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and project turnover while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
 
The ideal candidate has experience managing capital construction projects within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments and is comfortable coordinating multiple contractors, engineering firms, and internal stakeholders.
 
Must-Have Skills:
  • 5+ years of facility capital project management experience
  • Experience managing capital construction and facility improvement projects
  • Experience serving as an owner's representative on light construction projects
  • Experience working in GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of construction management principles, scheduling, budgeting, and contractor management
  • Experience coordinating architects, engineering firms, and general contractors
  • Strong understanding of commissioning and project turnover processes
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as project schedules require
 
Job Duties:
  • Lead capital construction and facility improvement projects from planning through completion
  • Serve as the owner's representative throughout all phases of project execution
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall project performance
  • Coordinate architects, engineering firms, general contractors, consultants, validation teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, GMP, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively resolve issues impacting timelines or budgets
  • Support commissioning, qualification, startup, and project turnover activities
  • Ensure construction documentation is complete and accurate
  • Participate in contractor meetings, design reviews, and project status updates
  • Support regulatory inspections and facility audits as required
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure contractor compliance with site safety requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives throughout project execution
  • Perform additional project management responsibilities as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field preferred
  • 5+ years of construction project management experience
  • Experience managing capital projects within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, food manufacturing, or other regulated industries
  • Strong knowledge of construction management, project scheduling, budgeting, and contractor oversight
  • Experience supporting GMP manufacturing facilities and regulated environments
  • Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation processes
  • Strong understanding of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to support projects during evenings, weekends, and extended work hours as needed
