As part of the Eastern Colorado Health Care System, RMRVAMC serves veterans across the Front Range and beyond, providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and specialty care services. The facility features modern operating rooms, cardiac catheterization labs, electrophysiology suites, and advanced diagnostic capabilities. Anesthesiologists here work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in a facility designed to deliver the highest standard of care.

Position Overview

We are seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiac Anesthesiologists with advanced certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and fellowship training in critical care of cardiac anesthesia. This is an on-site position providing comprehensive anesthesiology services with a cardiac specialization focus, including CABG, cardiac valve procedures, and diagnostic TEE.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general anesthesia care including preoperative assessment and postoperative management
  • Deliver specialized cardiac anesthesia for patients undergoing CABG, cardiac valve procedures, and other cardiac surgeries
  • Perform diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for medical and surgical patients
  • Provide anesthesia for orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, and neurosurgical procedures
  • Support anesthesia services for procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiology suite, GI suite, and radiology
  • Provide electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) anesthesia support
  • Deliver emergency airway management and acute pain management
  • Medically supervise or direct CRNAs as assigned
  • Participate in on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Attend staff meetings and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
  • Advanced certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
  • Fellowship training in critical care of cardiac anesthesia
  • Recent cardiac anesthesia experience (within the past 2 years) including CABG and cardiac valve procedures
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Active DEA registration
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Schedule

  • 10-hour shifts, Monday – Friday (0700 – 1730)
  • On-call coverage: evenings (1730 – 0700), weekends, and holidays
  • On-call providers must be available by phone within 15 minutes and on-site within 60 minutes
  • Minimum 2 anesthesiologists on-site daily during operating hours

  • Duration: Base year with one option year
