Job Summary and Qualifications

The CVIR Technologist assists the physician and the nurse with patient care by performing Imaging duties. Also participates in patient/family teaching for pre and post procedures, provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary staff and other patient care personnel in maintaining standards of professional practice in the clinical CVIR setting.

What you will do in this role:

  • Compiles with HCA Standards of Behavior and Conduct
  • Assists the nurse and physician in addressing the patients’ needs including physical, psychological, social, and educational needs.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team and keeps the healthcare team informed of changes in the patient's condition during the procedure and post-procedure.
  • Responsible for x-ray related duties in the operation of the CVIR.
  • Communicates observations of patient's response to care provided and participates in patient teaching.
  • Shares acquired knowledge and skills with other members of the health team.
  • Maintains competence in cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures and records attendance/participation at continuing education classes.
  • Actively participates in quality assurance measures implemented by Hospital and CVIR Policy and Procedures and in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Communicates effectively to optimize patient care, express positive customer relations and contribute to a supportive and cooperative working environment.
  • Identifies own professional development and clinical learning needs; communicates them to management; and shares in the responsibility for fulfilling those needs.
  • Complies with department, facility and system policies and procedures and is at work when scheduled, completing work in a timely manner.
  • Maintains attendance expectations.
  • Performs other duties as required including the unit specific duties as identified on the Competency Skills Checklist.
  • Determines technical values to be used on individual patient and pre-sets imaging system accordingly.
  • Programs injection system reflecting the requirements of the procedure in progress and the patient condition.
  • Assists other technical personnel in ensuring that adequate radiation protection procedures are practiced in regard to the patient, the physician, and other employees in the imaging suites.
  • Properly processes post procedure imaging and archiving.
  • Participates in patient preparation prior to procedure.
  • Radiation Exposure will occur. Protective lead covering must be worn at all times during imaging procedures.
  • May include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • 6 months experience in Diagnostic Imaging is required, and one year of experience in special procedure area is preferred
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Associate Degree
