The Cardiovascular Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills in the care of his/ her patients. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patient. The Cardiovascular Tech will perform only those duties for which he/ she has demonstrated competency. The Cardiovascular Tech performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Swedish Medical Center. The Cardiovascular Tech works as a team member to assist the physician in performing invasive cardiac procedures. Duties include scrubbing, recording during procedures. The Cardiovascular Tech performs ancillary duties related to the job such as quality control, inventory and stocking as assigned by the manager/supervisor. Provides all customers with the service/tests needed in a safe, friendly and efficient manner. The Cardiovascular Technologist’s aim is to provide quality health care in the area of cardiac or other vascular related procedures as required by the Cardiac Cath Lab Department. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
II. Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: A Cardiovascular Technologist must have an active registry or certification of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), LPN, scrub tech, EMT-Paramedic, or CNA. Current BLS and ACLS Certifications from ARC or AHA.
B. Education and Training: Associate and or Bachelors in Health Science is preferred. Graduate of an accredited CVT program preferred.
C. Experience: One-year experience in current field preferred.
D. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skills commensurate with formal training or on the job training such as operation of all cardiovascular lab equipment and instrumentation, scrub and monitor to include emergent procedures. Displays good communication and organizational skills. Adheres to departmental safety and quality controls. Must have a good working knowledge of radiographic, hemodynamic monitoring, recording equipment and/or devices relative to cardiovascular procedures as determined by the Director. Must have basic keyboard and computer skills.
