Responsibilities
- Supports physicians and performs implanted cardiac device interrogations and adjusts reprograms device settings under direct supervision of cardiology provider.
- Responsible for implanted cardiac device set-up monitoring and reporting both in-clinic and remote transmissions.
- Responsible for LifeVest remote monitoring and reporting.
- Serves as a resource and assists physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care to facilitate efficient patient flow and physician access.
- Assists or provides education to patients and families regarding device function, clinic follow-up scheduling, and device home monitoring.
- Assists with wound checks following implants.
- Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
- Troubleshoots critical device issues and takes immediate steps toward resolution.
- Manages recall notices for implanted devices - alerting physicians, contacting patients, and making appropriate adjustments and arrangements for resolution.
- Manages closer monitoring for patient devices nearing ERI ensuring appropriate follow-through and procedure scheduling for generator change once ERI has been reached.
- Maintains precise templates and database of all information for monitors and devices.
- Additional duties include appointment scheduling, ensures rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies, medical record management, and ensures equipment is in good working condition and notifies appropriate staff of problem areas or safety issues.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
- Required Experience:
- 1 of the following:
- Cardiology Arrhythmia Certification and 3 years of healthcare or 1 year of Cardiology
- Cardiology Arrhythmia Certification and graduation from an approved technical school specializing in implanted devices and/or arrhythmia or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
- Required Skills:
- Candidates must have understanding of arrhythmias, pacing, and defibrillation therapies
- Candidate must be familiar with various cardiac devices including pacemakers
- Required Certification:
- BLS Basic Life Support
- Preferred Certifications:
- CRAT Certification
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician
- RCES Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
- CCDS Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
- CEPS Certified Electrophysiology Specialist
