GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Cardiac Monitor Technician is an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for the safe and efficient transport of patients, with a specialized focus on continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring during transport. This role also support the operational flow of the facility through stocking duties, specimen transport, and maintaining a clean operating room environment, as well as transporting non-cardiac monitored patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transports patients throughout the facility. This includes transporting patients on cardiac monitors from their rooms to testing sites and back on a scheduled basis; accurately analyzing and interpreting ECG rhythms according to procedure, during transport, and transporting non-cardiac monitored patients as needed. (70%)

  • Performs continuous observation, interpretation, and communication of cardiac rhythms for patients being transported on a cardiac monitor. (10%)

  • Assists in maintaining a clean operating room environment by performing duties such as wiping down surfaces, tidying equipment, and ensuring areas are ready for the next case, under the direction of OR staff (10%)

  • Transports specimens safely and efficiently to the appropriate laboratory or department. (5%)

  • Maintains transportation equipment in good working order. (5%)

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire is required.

  • CPR - American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
