POSITION SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates technical expertise in the operation of all equipment utilized in the non-invasive cardiology laboratory.
  • Ensures quality efficiency and safety in performance of all patient procedures.
  • Has knowledge of thoracic anatomy, especially heart position, dynamic internal structural anatomy of heart, and component functions of Cardiac pathology and how it alters heart position and internal structural detail.
  • Knows basic principles of M-Mode, 2-Dimensional, and Doppler Ultrasound.
  • Is capable of interrelating knowledge of cardiac anatomy and pathology to that concerning the operation of ultrasonography to produce diagnostic quality 2-D images and doppler frequency shift recordings.

EDUCATION

  • An American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International credential is required.
  • New graduates must complete these required credentials within six months of hire.
  • New graduates pending required credentials will work under the supervision of a registered Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Bachelors Degree in related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • One year in the performance of Echocardiographs and Doppler Ultrasound working experience in EKGs, Holter Monitoring, and scanning and exercise tolerance tests is desirable.
  • Two or more years of preferred experience.
