Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist

Assignment Highlights

  • Schedule Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Shift: Rotating Day/Evening/Night (DEN)
  • Weekends, Holidays & On-Call: Required based on unit needs

Position Overview

  • Work in a high-acuity Adult Cardiac Operating Room caring for patients undergoing advanced cardiovascular procedures.
  • Join a multidisciplinary surgical team providing care throughout complex cardiac surgeries.
  • Scrub and circulate for a variety of cardiac surgical cases while maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique and patient safety.

Types of Procedures

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI/TAVR)
  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Implantation
  • ECMO Cannulation & Procedures
  • Artificial Heart Procedures
  • Heart Transplant Surgeries
  • Other complex adult cardiac surgical procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain sterile surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Scrub and assist surgeons during complex cardiac procedures.
  • Perform surgical counts and maintain strict sterile technique throughout each case.
  • Ensure safe handling of surgical instruments, sharps, medications, and solutions in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Assist with efficient room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, nurses, and the multidisciplinary cardiac surgical team.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Operating Room experience.
  • Ability to both scrub and circulate in the Cardiac OR.
  • NBSTSA Certification required or a minimum of 10 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
