This is a Cardiac Telemetry Services RN position based in Independence, MO, at a 285-bed Level II Trauma Center that also holds accreditation as a Chest Pain Center, houses a Level III NICU, and operates a designated Stroke Center along with a broad range of specialty programs including an accredited Cancer Program and Breast Center.
The role. The RN works on a 36-bed cardiac specialty unit, carrying a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4–5:1 on days and 5–6:1 on nights, supported by one tech per hall. The unit serves a wide acuity mix — chest pain, stroke, COPD, post-operative, GI, and accelerated heart rhythm patients on drips — functioning as a step-down destination from both PCU and the Level II Trauma Center. The nurse continuously monitors and analyzes cardiac rhythms, interprets ECGs, identifies arrhythmias, and intervenes during emergency situations using high-level critical thinking under pressure. In addition to foundational nursing preparation, the RN develops advanced knowledge of the psychosocial, pathophysiological, and therapeutic components specific to cardiac monitoring and step-down care, and provides care for patients aged 16 and older across young adult, adult, and geriatric populations.
