Principal Responsibilities:

  • Reviews images for quality assurance. Retrieves studies from PACS for review
  • Assures CSMCF Sonographers are following safe practices
  • Communicates performance expectations to CSMCF Sonographers
  • Maintains Competency checklists and evaluate CSMCF Sonographer's competency level annually
  • Orients and coaches staff Sonographers and temp Sonographers on sonography equipment and systems as needed
  • Assists with PACS quality assurance
  • Assists Imaging Team with process improvement initiatives
  • Uses appropriate techniques with ultrasound equipment to supply diagnostic studies based upon physician request
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures to support physician's diagnosis
  • Responsible for providing high quality imaging
  • Knowledgeable about advanced imaging improvements on ultrasound system features for purposes of capturing data
  • Appropriately acquires echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings to the interpreting physician
  • Ensures IAC Standards and Guidelines are followed
  • Monitors the status on equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated down time.
  • Assures compliance with department policies, procedures and regulations

Qualifications

Education

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years' experience in echo cardiovascular setting preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is required (upon hire)
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) preferred
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
