Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity

We are actively looking for a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with extensive experience to become a part of our cardiovascular practice located in Rapid City, South Dakota. Our organization boasts a team of board-certified physicians, proficient support staff, and state-of-the-art facilities, providing a comprehensive range of cardiovascular services.

This role will primarily involve a combination of cardiac and thoracic procedures, along with some vascular care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork abilities, a solid work ethic, exceptional clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.

About Our Practice

Our cardiovascular institute is at the forefront of innovative procedures, including:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), including beating heart surgery
  • Complex mitral valve repairs and replacements
  • Aortic Valve Replacements (AVRs) and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVRs)
  • Complex thoracic aortic surgeries, including aortic root surgery
  • Arrhythmia surgeries, including hybrid A-fib maze procedures (convergent)
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
  • Open and VATS lobectomies
  • Mediastinal surgeries
  • Carotid endarterectomies
  • Lower and upper extremity bypass surgeries
  • Endovascular Aneurysm Repairs (EVARs) and open Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repairs
Team Composition

Our institute is the largest group of cardiovascular specialists in the region, comprising:

  • 6 Non-Interventional Cardiologists
  • 4 Interventional Cardiologists
  • 2 Electrophysiologists
  • 1 Heart Failure Cardiologist
  • 2 Cardiothoracic Surgeons
  • 1 Vascular Surgeon

Additionally, we have a highly skilled team of over 25 advanced practitioners dedicated to both inpatient and outpatient patient management, including nocturnal inpatient support.

  • 50+ Carotid/Femoral Endarterectomies
  • 40+ Convergent Ablation Surgeries
  • 3,200+ Cath Lab Procedures, including 220 Structural Heart Interventions
  • 11,000+ Electrophysiology Lab Procedures, with 600+ Ablations
  • 12 operating rooms (2 dedicated to cardiac surgery), 2 Hybrid rooms, and 2 da Vinci Robotic Systems
  • Active participation in a Comprehensive Cardiovascular Quality Assessment/Quality Improvement Program
  • Shared call responsibilities among Cardiothoracic Surgeon partners
  • Ongoing investment in the cardiovascular service line as a strategic priority
  • Comprehensive Electrophysiology program addressing all aspects of electrical heart disease
  • Dedicated Structural Heart program offering various transcatheter procedures
