Description:
Mount Carmel operates 12 locations that provide cardiac ultrasound services. This position created would float to all 12 locations and provide necessary coverage
Position Purpose:
The Registered Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing Echocardiography and/or Vascular diagnostic testing as per Accreditation Guidelines. Reports preliminary findings for physician interpretation, Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.
What you will do:
- Reviews physician orders to ensure correct procedure and correctly identifies patients.
- Patient Care: Performs all studies according to policy and procedures and standards established by Accreditating body. Abnormal pathology reported appropriately. Explains procedures to patients, answers patient's questions. Ensures comfort of patient. Assists with patient transport as needed.
- Documentation: Obtains pertinent health history. Enters accurate and complete data in diagnostic testing equipment and documentation system. Ensures accuracy of reports prior to dispatch.
- Collaboration/Communication: Communicates pertinent patient data to appropriate team members. Collaborates with other departments to provide optimum patient care.
- Equipment Resource Management: Knowledgeable of all equipment pertinent to specific area of testing. Able to perform basic trouble-shooting. Participates in evaluation of new equipment.
- Initiative: Responsible for personal professional development. Maintains registry status or actively pursues registry. Responsible for completion of annual competencies. Participates in accreditation/re-accreditation process.
- Computer Skills: Utilizes computers appropriate to areas of testing effectively, including timekeeping system, clinical information systems and the intranet.
- Performance Improvement: Assists in development of department monitors and data collection. Participates in PI work groups.
What we are looking for:
- Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
- Licensure/Certification:
- Registered by the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) as
a. RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or
b. RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
OR
- Registered by CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) as
a. RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or
b. RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist)
OR
- ARDMS or CCI Board-eligible AND achieve certification within 12-months of hire
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in cardiovascular imaging preferred.
- Effective Communication Skills
- BLS certification required.
