Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Tech I assists in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist or physician. This entry-level role supports patient preparation, equipment setup, and procedural assistance in a cardiac catheterization lab or vascular lab environment. The Tech I ensures adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental protocols.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and equipment setup
  • Operate basic equipment under supervision during cardiovascular procedures
  • Maintain sterile field and assist with contrast injections and device delivery
  • Prepare and maintain procedural rooms and supplies
  • Document procedures, vital signs, and patient responses under supervision
  • Transport patients and assist with post-procedure care
  • Follow radiation safety and infection control protocols

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a cardiovascular or radiologic technology program preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire
  • Registry-eligible through ARRT, RCIS, or CCI preferred

Experience

  • No experience required; clinical training or externship preferred
