Location: White Plains, New York
Employment Type: Per Diem
Schedule: Day Shift | Monday–Friday, with alternating weekends and holidays as needed
Pay Range: $52.04–$62.88 per hour

Job Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer to support its non-invasive cardiology services on a per diem basis.

The Cardiovascular Technologist will perform high-quality echocardiographic studies, including color flow Doppler and stress echocardiograms, and assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiography procedures. This role also supports other non-invasive cardiac testing, including EKG and Holter monitoring.

The ideal candidate will be a registered cardiac sonographer with strong technical skills, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform color flow Doppler echocardiograms according to established protocols
  • Conduct stress echocardiograms and accurately capture diagnostic-quality images
  • Assist cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiography procedures
  • Perform non-invasive cardiac testing, including EKGs and Holter monitoring
  • Independently identify and complete appropriate echocardiographic studies
  • Recognize abnormal or life-threatening findings and communicate them promptly to the appropriate clinical personnel
  • Produce high-quality studies within required turnaround times
  • Review images for completeness and diagnostic accuracy
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatric adults
  • Maintain patient safety and follow all infection prevention standards
  • Recognize and report equipment malfunctions
  • Participate in departmental performance-improvement initiatives
  • Schedule appointments and complete required clerical and administrative tasks
  • Enter daily charges and maintain accurate procedural records
  • Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, physicians, and other hospital team members
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation
  • Perform additional non-invasive cardiology procedures as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or a related field
  • Completion of a cardiac sonography or cardiovascular technology certificate program
  • Minimum of two years of experience performing echocardiograms
  • Current registration through one of the following:
    • ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or
    • Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer
  • Experience performing color flow Doppler and stress echocardiograms
  • Ability to recognize abnormal echocardiographic findings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to image quality
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to remain composed in high-volume and stressful situations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work day shifts, alternating weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred

  • Experience assisting with transesophageal echocardiography procedures
  • Experience performing EKGs and Holter monitoring
  • Previous hospital-based cardiac sonography experience
  • Experience working with neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
