Job Description Summary

The Cardiovascular Technician is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and managing patients with implanted cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and loop recorders. This role works closely with providers, device representatives, and patients to ensure accurate device function, timely follow-up, and compliance with clinical protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-office and remote interrogations of pacemakers, ICDs, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, and implantable loop recorders.
  • Perform in-office site checks for newly implanted devices.
  • Review device transmissions and identify abnormal findings requiring provider review or intervention.
  • Document device checks, findings, and patient communications accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Communicate test results, provider recommendations, and follow-up instructions to patients.
  • Coordinate scheduling of device clinic appointments and remote monitoring follow-ups.
  • Troubleshoot remote monitoring equipment and assist patients with device connectivity issues.
  • Escalate urgent findings such as arrhythmias, device malfunctions, or battery depletion according to established protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturer guidelines, practice policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and device representatives to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or healthcare certification preferred.
  • Experience in cardiology, electrophysiology, or device monitoring preferred.
  • Knowledge of pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and remote monitoring systems.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with EMR systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume workload.
