    Position Title

    Cardiovascular Ultrasound ManagerDays - Full TimeBell Hospital

    Position Summary / Career Interest:

    Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the CV Ultrasound Imaging department. Supervise and promote development of personnel.

    Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

    • Supervise, schedule, and assign duties and responsibilities.

    • Assure coverage for cardiac and peripheral sonography needs at all clinic sites.

    • Assist in processing absence requests in coordination with the Ultrasound Program Director.  Assist in submitting bi-weekly employee time through the Kronos system.

    • In conjunction with Ultrasound Program Director, assist in completion of annual employee evaluations, following Hospital Systems Performance Evaluation guidelines.

    • In conjunction with Ultrasound Program Director, enforce Departmental & Hospital System policies and guidelines. Provide appropriate disciplinary action as needed when problems and/or conflicts related to job performance occur in coordination with the Ultrasound Program Director.

    • In conjunction with the Ultrasound Program Director coordinate the oversight in the clinical training of fellows and sonography students.  Serving as the liaison to the advanced cardiovascular technology program.  Overseeing any action required to resolve poor outcomes that may arise from the SHP evaluation tools.

    • Assist in analysis & maintenance of overall function of department equipment to ensure dependability.

    • Assist in arranging for complex changes in equipment and/or major repairs when necessary.

    • Coordinate maintenance of supply stock necessary for uninterrupted operation of echo departments.

    • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and techniques, and expansion of services on the main campus and additional sites.

    • Participate in evaluation of department staffing needs and strategic planning for the CV Ultrasound Department.

    • Participate in the evaluation; development and maintenance of policies and protocols, which fulfill the Department and Hospital System objectives, adhering to the ICAEL and ICAVL published standards.

    • 24x7 Echo Services & after-hours call: Supervise or delegate the responsibility for coordinating the on-call rotation for KU hospital and in an emergent situation may be required to staff in.

    • Participate in quality control efforts in the department under the direction of the program medical directors.

    • Participate in educational conferences, seminars, and workshops; earning CME credits required to maintain active status as well as assuring overall high level of competence.

    • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelors Degree

    • 5 or more years experience as a sonographer, having routinely performed ultrasound exams as part of this experience.

    • Experience which demonstrate leadership characteristics

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Master's Degree

    • Completion of CAAHEP approved program in diagnostic medical sonography with specialization in echocardiography is preferred

    • 4 or more years work experience which provided an in depth knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices of cardiac and vascular sonography preferred.

    • 2 or more years supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

    Required Licensure and Certification

    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR

    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) active status in Adult Echocardiography.

    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)

    Preferred Licensure and Certification

    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

    • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

    • Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
