Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Supervisor oversees and participates in all departmental responsibilities for cardiovascular ultrasound patients. This position has the ability to prioritize and remain calm and organized in a high stress, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety and health system standards, policies and procedures; maintains a department of constant readiness.
- Ensures all departmental policies and procedures are kept up to date. Instructs, orients, and mentors students, employees, residents, patients, and other health care providers as applicable.
- Demonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills.
- Performs all necessary tasks for the department including the following: Maintains adequate inventory and supplies. Schedules, coordinates, and maintains departmental staffing for daily and on call shifts, ensuring adequate staffing for business needs and in a timely manner. Completes and maintains records for competency training of all departmental staff.
- Consults with Cardiovascular Manager and/or Director regarding problems in the department.
- Assists the Cardiovascular Manager with Human Resources duties including interviewing, hiring, counseling, and corrective action.
- Provides and maintains effective communication with physicians, departments, and staff.
- Serves as a mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient/employee satisfaction.
- Creates and maintains a supportive work environment for the entire team; maintains an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward patient, staff, and colleagues.
- Assists with on-call responsibilities and will be back-up resource when problems arise.
- Performs cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures.
- Oversees and assists in maintaining efficient patient flow.
- Assists in maintaining the Cardiovascular Department equipment, PACs, and EMR.red."
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree
- 3 or more years Minimum experience as a sonographer
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master''s Degree Health related field
- Previous supervisory experience
Required Licensure and Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to be flexible when needed and works well under pressure
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint skills
