SUMMARY: Candidate will assist licensed CTE instructor(s) in the shop and related theory classroom in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the CTE program. Knowledge of the competencies and skills required of students in Automotive Technology is essential. Candidate will help to provide a safe and supportive educational environment for all students and staff as well as providing classroom support to teachers and students. The candidate will have an understanding of curriculum development, student learning styles and possess the ability to work with all students in assisting the licensed CTE instructor in delivering quality programming to prepare the students to meet the demands of the modern workplace.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate meets the DESE requirements for NCLB paraprofessionals (Vocational school graduate encouraged to apply).
• Experience in the workplace in specific vocational technical training areas (Licensed tradesperson preferred).
• Possess personal and professional history which is exemplary and supported with reference
• Proven ability to work well with high school students with a variety of abilities in a positive, polite and friendly manner
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: administrators, parents, teachers, students, other school staff and visitors.
• Knowledge of shop safety, hand tools, power tools and equipment for specified shop areas required. Vocation technical experience preferred.
• The candidate must be able to inspire excellence, achieve consensus and respond effectively to the system's mission with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):

• Assists the classroom teacher as needed, included, but not limited to the following:
• Assists in daily planning of shop projects and related instruction.
• Work on/monitor educational tasks with one or more students as designated by the teacher.
• Monitors students in completing shop tasks while helping them to develop an "effective work personality."
• Assists the licensed CTE instructor in accommodating the special needs of individual students.
• Assists in the maintenance of individual records for each student in a confidential manner
• Helps to maintain discipline under supervision of the teacher.
• Assists the licensed CTE instructor(s) in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• Assists licensed CTE instructors in breaking down shop competencies, tasks and projects for diverse learners.
• Assist the licensed CTE instructor/s with analyzing data to develop appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of all students.
• Provides assistance to the licensed CTE instructor/s with the delivery of quality career & technical educational programming to all students including

any needs indicated on IEP's, 504's and or SEL plans.

• Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
• Responsible for implementing "other job-related duties" as needed

Work Environment:

• Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
