Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Career Data and Outcomes Coordinator (GA049) in Alumni and Career Services, which will support institution-wide career data initiatives. The Career Data and Outcomes Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Longwood University"s commitment to student success by supporting the implementation and ongoing management of a comprehensive career data system. This position focuses on coordinating data collection, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting reporting efforts related to work-based learning (WBL) participation and career outcomes.

This position is grant-funded for a period of up to two years, with an annual salary of $60,000.

This position is located in Farmville, Virginia with a preference for in-person work on Longwood University"s campus. Hybrid work may be considered.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain and support career-related data systems (e.g., Handshake, CRM platforms, student information systems) and assist with system configuration, data mapping, and integration across platforms
  • Implement and enhance a longitudinal tracking system that monitors student participation in work-based learning across academic and co-curricular programs from enrollment through graduation and links to post-graduation outcome data (e.g., First-Destination Survey).
  • Build and maintain the institution"s WBL data collection framework aligned with SCHEV"s Data Quality Framework dimensions: accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, integrity, uniqueness, and timeliness.
  • Support a newly established WBL Data Governance Team in developing universal WBL definitions, policies, and decision-making structure in accordance with SCHEV Guidelines. Promote awareness of these standards across campus units.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to develop course type code tagging protocols to ensure students are accurately enrolled and classified in internship and WBL courses.
  • Conduct a degree-level inventory and gap analysis of WBL offerings across all academic programs.
  • Coordinate data collection processes between academic affairs, career services, the registrar, institutional research, student affairs, and other relevant campus units.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator of the University"s post-graduation outcomes data collection efforts, including administration of the First Destination Survey and collaboration with campus partners to collect, verify, and report career outcomes data at key intervals.
  • Establish and maintain systematic tools and processes for capturing employer recruiting, hiring, and partnership data.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and/or data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or comparable platforms to support stakeholder data requests and communicate WBL participation and career outcomes data to a variety of institutional audiences.
  • In collaboration with leadership, compile and submit semi-annual performance measure reports to SCHEV in accordance with grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Train relevant staff across campus on system use, data entry standards, and data quality protocols.
  • Develop a comprehensive sustainability and institutionalization plan to ensure WBL data practices are embedded into institutional reporting cycles and strategic planning beyond the grant period.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor"s degree in higher education, business, data analytics, social sciences, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in data coordination, systems support, institutional research, or administrative roles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage datasets and ensure data accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data cleaning)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data querying, reporting, or technical data management tools (e.g., SQL, Banner reporting environments, APIs, AI-assisted analytics tools, or data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI).
  • Familiarity with career services platforms such as Handshake
  • Knowledge of survey methodologies (e.g., First Destination Survey/NACE standards)
  • Understanding of internships, experiential learning, and/or student success metrics

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. This position is grant-funded for a period of up to two years, with an annual salary of $60,000.
