Job Summary

The Career Navigator serves as a guide and resource for prospective and newly enrolled students, supporting them in making informed decisions about their academic, career, and employment goals. This role connects students to college systems, workforce pathways, and support services while helping reduce barriers to enrollment, persistence, and completion.

Primary Duties

• Recruitment and Outreach: Recruit and outreach to prospective students with a focus on completing next steps to enrollment; presenting and tabling to the College's community on the educational opportunities. • Career Counseling: Provide one-on-one and group career counseling to students, assist them in self-assessment, career exploration using tools such as SuperStrong and others, and goal setting. • Career Planning: Guide students in developing personalized career plans, including selecting relevant labor market information, wage outcomes, courses, transfer pathways, internships, and extracurricular activities. • Workshops and Presentations: Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and seminars on career-related topics such as career exploration, labor market information, resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and professional networking. • Resource Referral and Campus Partnerships: Support students enrolled in the High School Diploma Program by monitoring progress toward completion, providing individualized career exploration and guidance, and helping students navigate academic and support services that promote successful matriculation to college. • Job Search Support: Assist students in developing job search skills such as resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and networking. • Industry Research and Alignment: Stay updated on labor market trends, industry developments, and emerging careers. • Data Tracking and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely records of student interactions, services provided, and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: (Minimum/Required) Bachelors degree in counseling, education, human resources, or a related field. • Experience: (Minimum/Required) Two (2) years previous experience with education, workforce and community college in a counselor, advisor or a role directly servicing students/clients. • Two (2) years working with first generation students, low-income students, adult learners, and students of color. • Previous experience navigating students through the college enrollment process (application, onboarding/orientation, FAFSA, scholarship, advising, registration)

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence. • Ability to provide guidance and support to individuals in making informed decisions about their career paths. • Ability to explain complex academic and career information in clear, student-centered language. • Demonstrated project management administrative skills to manage student records and generate reports. • Higher level skills in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Drive, and Outlook). • Strong industry connections and a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization. • Demonstrated success in identifying, securing, and communicating educational or career resources to meet the needs of prospective program participants. • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to enhance career services on campus. • Strong teamwork skills. • Strong presentation skills.

Selection Process

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application packet submitted by candidate.
