The Career Pathways reports directly to the Sheridan College Dean of Business and Industry. The position is a full-time, in-person, 12-month staff position in the Business department. This position plays a key role in the day-to-day work and support of the Northern Wyoming Career Pathways Partnership (NWCPP) consortium efforts. This role is central to student success and data-informed planning. The counselor will manage and share data from YouScience, and other sources across partner institutions, and will support educators and counselors in using that data for student advising and career pathway planning.

This position plays a key role in strengthening the bridge between education and industry across our region. The successful candidate will support efforts to connect employers with both Sheridan and Johnson County K-12 schools and Sheridan College to expand work-based learning opportunities for students during all stages of their educational journey. Working closely with regional partners, this role helps foster employer involvement into career pathway design, curriculum development, and industry-recognized credentials, while ensuring student learning aligns with the evolving needs of our workforce.

Reports To Dean of Business & Industry Education/Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, education, workforce development, communications, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Mastery of Microsoft Office programs, learning management system (such as Canvas), and other appropriate instructional technology.
• Familiarity with K-12 and community college systems, career and technical education (CTE), work-based learning models, and industry-recognized credentials.
• Self-directed work style with initiative, diplomacy, cultural awareness, and a genuine commitment to connecting students with meaningful career pathways.
• Familiarity with experiential learning and learner-centered educational philosophies.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills are required, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, educators, employers, and community partners in diverse settings.
• Awareness of workforce trends and industry sectors relevant to Wyoming and regional economic development.
• Ability to support and expand community outreach and collaborations.
• Experience utilizing student information systems, CRM platforms, and data management tools preferred.
• Follows and ensures compliance with departmental processes and procedures.
• Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the College.
• Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives.
• Utilizes technology and emerging workplace tools (to include AI) in accordance with College policies and data security requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Standard schedule; some assignments may be scheduled for evenings and weekends.
• Local and regional travel within Sheridan County and surrounding service areas may be required.

Experience

Career Pathways Design Support

• Foster employer involvement in career pathway design, curriculum development, and industry-recognized credentials.
• Align student learning experiences with current and emerging workforce needs.
• Collaborate with regional partners to strengthen education-to-industry pathways
• Ability to interpret, share, and apply assessment data (such as YouScience) in a clear and ethical manner.
• Manage and distribute career assessment data (YouScience and other sources) across partner institutions.
• Identify and support efforts to obtain grant opportunities that fund work-based learning initiatives.
• Awareness of diverse industries and their roles locally, within Wyoming, the US, and internationally, or willingness to develop that knowledge quickly.

Percentage of time 45 Responsibility/Duty

Student Support

• Assist in the development of career pathways that give students a clear route from the classroom to in-demand jobs in our region.
• Support student advising, pathway planning, and assist in connecting students with work-based learning opportunities tailored to their interests and aptitudes.
• Act as a liaison with students, staff, faculty, and the broader community, with a goal of increasing engagement and satisfaction with the program.
• Provide career advising and connect students with resources to prepare for placements (résumés, interview skills, professionalism).
• Keep learning relevant by aligning educational programming with the evolving needs of the regional workforce.
• Collaboration with counselors and faculty on career pathways and work-based learning opportunities.
• Advises, meets, and coordinates with students providing guidance on their potential pathways for obtaining an AS, AAS, or a BAS.
