Career Services AdvisorThe Career Services Advisor works with the Director of Career Services to implement a program of activities and services that facilitate the placement of graduates and promote the goals of the college.BenefitsCompetitive and excellent benefits package providing medical, dental, and vision benefits for eligible employees and their dependents.Highly competitive pay and eligible employees are entitled to receive paid vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.Professional opportunities in a growing organization.Compensation Range: $20.00-24.00/hourResponsibilities and DutiesCritical Service Needs and Student Activities:Coordinate and implement all on campus Career Services activities (e.g., resume and interview workshops, career fairs, open houses, alumni luncheon, etc.)Work with Program Chairs to offer a range of guest speakers, workshops, and fieldtrip opportunitiesAssist with the monitoring of social networking or job sites as assignedRemain in constant contact with alumni to ascertain job search prospects and offer assistanceTimely and properly complete phone calls and paper work associated with employment verificationsAssist Career Services Director in the development of community relationships that give students a chance to give back to the community while at the same time allows the community to learn about the college and its programsEnsure a successful first term transition for new students through in-person meetings aimed at introducing key career services resources to new studentsAssist in the administration of all student surveys according to the survey timelineOther duties as assignedPlanning, Organizing, and Controlling for Results:Establish periodic progress reports to assure results are monitored and corrective action applied.Prepare and present to the Director of Career Services a term review report comparing actual results to plans at the conclusion of each term, with objectives and planned activities identified for the next termTeamwork:Actively provide assistance to other departmentsActively seek ways to provide assistance to other departments in achieving operation objectives not necessarily under direct control or accountabilityPromote a positive image and attitude to students and staff members across all departmentsWork closely with all departments to ensure that student concerns or inquiries are resolvedEnsure excellent customer service and professionalism to all current students, prospective students and co-workers in all departments at all timesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesComputer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Internet)Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent problem solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to learn and interpret academic standards and admissions policiesSelf-starter with a strong focus on customer serviceCredentials and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred1 year previous experience working with students or in a customer service environmentSpecial RequirementsOvertime when requested by Supervisor - may include work in evenings, weekends or holidaysAttendance at the Platt College Graduation Ceremony as requiredEqual Employment OpportunityIn order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions will be based on merit, qualifications and abilities.
