QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
- Washington State Career and Technical Education Certification in the subject area (or ability to attain); 6,000 hours of documented work experience per endorsement needed. Specialized Focus in Ag Science Courses including CASE Plant Science, Case Animal Science, Floriculture and Landscape design, but may include other AG Science courses.
- Willingness to recruit and facilitate an active industry advisory committee.
- Demonstrated success supervising FFA, a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and student leadership opportunities.
- Willingness to operate a school-based enterprise and follow ASB guidelines.
- Willingness to recruit and facilitate an active industry advisory committee.
- Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one.
The candidate must demonstrate a deep commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school's guiding principles, vision, and mission. They must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be able and willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
- Previous successful classroom teaching experience.
- Willingness to obtain certification to teach College in the High School/CTE Dual Credit.
- Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish.
- Teaching techniques which reflect interactive student-centered, project driven instruction and incorporate communicative activities and authentic assessment.
- Ability to maintain program equipment, lab area, and facilities.
- Successful experience working with an industry advisory committee; attending meetings and participation in committee activities and events.
- Knowledgeable and willing to integrate appropriate technology into the instructional
- process.
- Willingness to work with the business community to support student learning in the workplace; set up job shadow and internship opportunities.
- Ability to design instruction to meet adopted State and industry standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide an effective program of instruction in Ag. Science meeting district and state approved program standards (frameworks).
- Develop, implement, and supervise FFA, following the state approved guidelines for an approved CTSO (after school, nights, and weekends).
- Be actively involved in industry advisory committee activities; attend all meetings and activities (after school, evenings).
- Operate a student-based enterprise (Floral Shop/Greenhouse) based following ASB, district and state guidelines. May include shopping for inventory and after-hours events.
- Organize and maintain a safe lab environment while teaching and promoting safety.
- Review program needs and participate in the selection of equipment and instructional resources and materials.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan in alignment with state CTE
- standards.
- Develop and monitor program budget; manage and submit purchases for the program.
- Integrate technology into the instructional process; stay up to date with technology
- related to the program area.
- Develop business and community partnerships; participate in internships and other industry related educational and training opportunities.
