Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Completion of an accredited Home Health Aide (HHA) training program is an advantage
Active Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or license preferred
Physically capable of performing assigned caregiving duties
Knowledge of proper infection control and safe handling of bodily fluids and hazardous materials
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must meet all employment and personnel requirements
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal care and assistance to clients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)
Follow established safety procedures while delivering care
Communicate any changes in the client's condition to the supervising nurse
Perform assigned tasks according to the individualized care plan developed by the healthcare team
Accurately document services provided and submit required reports on time
Observe and report changes in the client's physical or emotional condition
Maintain compliance with state regulations governing Home Health Aide services
Support clients with daily living activities while maintaining their dignity, comfort, and independence
Scope of Practice Caregivers/Home Health Aides provide non-medical personal care and assistance as outlined in the client's care plan. Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
Helping with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
Assisting with toileting and incontinence care
Preparing and serving meals based on dietary guidelines
Providing medication reminders (without administering medication, unless permitted by law and employer policy)
Performing light housekeeping related to the client's care
Assisting with laundry and linen changes
Accompanying clients to appointments or errands, when assigned
Providing companionship and emotional support
Monitoring and reporting changes in the client's physical, mental, or emotional condition to the supervising nurse or agency
Recording care provided according to agency policies
Following infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines at all times
