    Description

    • Brief Description

    • The Tailings & Heap Leach Manager will be responsible for overall management of 15 tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and 5 heap leach facilities (HLFs) at the Carlin Complex.

    • Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related engineering degree or equivalent experience required.

    • Knowledge of Tailings and Heap leach operations and construction required.

    • Professional Engineer designation preferred.

    • 10-15 years of experience in the mining or related industry preferred.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills required.

    • Ability to work in a team required.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the supporting TSF/HLF management site team including one superintendent and two support engineers.
    • Fulfill the responsible tailings facility engineer (RTFE) role for the North Area facilities.
    • Prepare and manage internal budgets and work plans required for TSF/HLF management.
    • Maintain regular communication with qualified NGM site and corporate personnel for specialist review of geotechnical, hydrological, hydrogeological, and environmental issues.
    • Communicate and coordinate with other site departments, site leadership, and corporate leadership.
    • Review water and tailings deposition models. Ensure adequate model calibration and regular reporting.
    • Review of engineering designs and construction packages, site investigation plans, and technical reports.
    • Management and coordination of external consultants including the engineer-of-record for each TSF/HLF.
    • Stay up-to-date with the state of practice in geotechnical and tailings engineering.
    • Participate in technical evaluations, risk assessments, and mitigation strategy development.
    • Develop and manage the corrective action plan and critical controls management plan for all TSFs/HLFs.
    • Ensure conformance to Barrick standards, GISTM, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure facility inspections and reviews are completed
    • Ensure reclamation requirements are included in facility design
