    Position Summary 
    The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading day-to-day carpentry operations on residential construction projects while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, efficiency, and professionalism. This position serves as a working leader on the jobsite and is responsible for coordinating work, directing other employees and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and company standards. 

    The ideal candidate is an experienced carpenter who can work independently, solve problems in the field, communicate effectively, and take ownership of the overall quality and progress of the project. 

    Key Responsibilities 
    Jobsite Leadership 

    • Lead and coordinate daily construction activities on assigned projects. 

    • Direct and work alongside carpenters, laborers, apprentices, and other employees as needed. 

    • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is completed properly and on schedule. 

    • Communicate daily priorities, project needs, and potential issues to the Owner / Project Manager. 

    • Maintain an organized, professional, and productive jobsite. 

    • Help establish and maintain an efficient workflow for the project. 

    Carpentry & Construction 

    • Perform high-quality rough and finish carpentry work. 

    • Read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, specifications, and construction details. 

    • Layout and frame walls, floors, roofs, stairs, doors, windows, and other structural components. 

    • Install and oversee installation of trim, doors, windows, cabinets, siding, and other finish materials as required. 

    • Measure, cut, and install materials accurately. 

    • Identify potential construction issues and develop practical solutions. 

    • Verify dimensions, elevations, and layouts before work is completed. 

    • Assist with or perform a wide variety of residential construction tasks as project needs require. 

    Quality Control 

    • Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout all phases of construction. 

    • Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before moving to the next phase. 

    • Ensure work is completed according to plans, building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards. 

    • Identify material or workmanship issues early and communicate them promptly. 

    Project Coordination 

    • Review upcoming work and identify needed materials, tools, equipment, and manpower. 

    • Estimate material take-offs through field verified measurements. 

    • Document projects with daily logs, written statements of progress, and photographs. 

    • Communicate material and equipment needs to the Owner / Project Manager. 

    • Help coordinate deliveries and ensure materials are properly stored and protected. 

    • Track project progress and communicate delays or scheduling concerns. 

    • Assist in maintaining project schedules and meeting important construction milestones. 

    • Coordinate sequencing of work between company employees and subcontractors. 

    Safety & Jobsite Standards 

    • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. 

    • Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and applicable building codes. 

    • Ensure employees and subcontractors are following appropriate safety practices. 

    • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, trailers, vehicles, ladders, scaffolding, and personal protective equipment. 

    • Address unsafe conditions immediately. 

    Customer & Professional Communication 

    • Represent Rowell Design Build professionally when interacting with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and other professionals. 

    • Maintain a respectful and professional relationship with clients while working in or around their homes. 

    • Communicate project questions or homeowner concerns to the Owner / Project Manager rather than making unauthorized changes or commitments. 

    • Protect the customer's property and maintain a clean, respectful jobsite. 

    Qualifications 

    • Minimum 8 years of residential construction/carpentry experience, preferably with experience in new home construction and large-scale renovations. 

    • Strong knowledge of residential framing and general carpentry. 

    • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. 

    • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and jobsite coordination. 

    • Ability to independently complete carpentry tasks and troubleshoot problems. 

    • Previous experience leading other carpenters or construction crews preferred. 

    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 

    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally. 

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. 

    • Ability to lift, carry, and work with construction materials and equipment. 

    • Ability to work safely on ladders, scaffolding, roofs, and other elevated surfaces. 

    Leadership Expectations 

    The Lead Carpenter is expected to take ownership of the jobsite and lead by example. This includes:

    • Communicating problems early rather than allowing them to become larger issues. 

    • Treating homeowners, coworkers, subcontractors, and suppliers with respect. 

    • Taking pride in the finished product and representing Rowell Design Build's standards on every project. 

    Physical Requirements 

    This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, lifting, carrying, and working in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions. The Lead Carpenter must be able to safely handle typical residential construction materials, tools, and equipment.
