Description
Under general supervision of the Manager, Engineering Services, performs a full range of carpentry duties physical facilities and equipment. Performs skilled tasks in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of physical facilities and equipment in compliance with local building codes. Work is performed independently subject to inspection in progress or upon completion.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Constructs, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, modifies, maintains and installs all types of building components and equipment including, but not limited to walls, doors, partitions, furniture, door closers, building hardware, roofs, ceilings, floors, windows, and architectural specialties.
Performs maintenance inspection and prevention of building components, equipment and systems.
Coordinates and prepares bids with contractors; field inspects, evaluates and collaborates with contractors.
Provides technical assistance to operations personnel and other trades for daily operations, maintenance and repair.
Estimates labor and material costs for minor repair and revision projects; reads, interprets and works from drawings, plans and sketches.
Schedules repairs of physical facilities and equipment based on need and location; compiles data on repairs; prepares reports as required or assigned.
Operates and maintains carpentry supplies, materials and machines including, but not limited to saws, planes, routers, jigs, and other tools.
Trains Building Services staff on installation and repair of miscellaneous building hardware.
Performs concrete, masonry, plaster, and drywall repairs.
Performs complex security hardware installations, replacements and modifications including, but not limited to, lock sets, panic bars and automatic entrance devices.
Participatesinin-servicetraining,workshopsandothereducationalactivitiesas requiredorassigned.
Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division
Qualifications
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
Required Education: High school diploma or G.E.D and a trained journeyman carpenter with a Technical or para-professional certificate.
Required Experience: Six (6) years of experience in of journeyman maintenance experience in commercial or institutional building maintenance.
Required License/Certification: Valid Wisconsin driver's license; Journeyman License
Specialty Skills: Personally provide basic personal journeyman tools and transportation.

Supplemental Information
This is a Full-time in-person position based primarily at the Downtown Milwaukee campus. This position serves the entire district and is required to travel to all campuses. Standard hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Compensation pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal salary equity, and a review of the applicants employment and educational background as listed on the job application.
