    Job Description

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teaches carpentry skills and knowledge full-time to students in grades 9-12. Develops lesson plans, maintains plan book and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of occupational materials, equipment, tools, and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids in accordance with the carpentry competency-based task listing.
    • Instructs pupils in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery, and equipment.
    • Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports, report cards, and student competency lists.
    • Communicates with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual pupil progress.
    • Attends special education individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher's presence is required.
    • Provides supervision and extra help to students where needed.
    • Attends meetings as required by the teacher contracts.
    • Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, and gases.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month, school-year position (183 days). Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers' Contract. Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers' Contract.

    EVALUATION: As per the Teachers' Contract.
