Carrier Account Representative - Freight / Logistics

Our client, an established and growing logistics provider is seeking a Carrier / Freight Account Representative to help drive freight coverage and build long-term partnerships with carriers. This position is focused on sourcing, booking, and managing carrier performance from pickup through delivery, while supporting pricing efforts and expanding capacity.
Job Responsibilities
Capacity Procurement & Logistics Development: Source and secure qualified transportation capacity, build strategic relationships with core service providers across key lanes, and negotiate competitive rates to meet margin objectives. Develop routing guides, increase provider participation on digital platforms, and support seasonal capacity planning.
Dedicated Account Team Support: Collaborate with internal account teams on daily capacity needs, participate in client strategy meetings, and master account-specific SOPs. Provide real-time market intelligence and assist with pricing strategies for RFPs and new business opportunities.
Independent Network & Partner Support: Serve as the primary procurement resource for independent agents and external partners, assisting them with securing capacity for high-priority opportunities. Offer regional market insights, facilitate onboarding for new partners, and help them expand their logistics networks.
Shipment Tracking & Visibility Management: Monitor active shipments from dispatch to final delivery, ensuring partners provide timely status updates and accurate milestone data in the TMS. Proactively escalate operational concerns and maintain strict visibility over critical shipments.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure service providers meet onboarding, safety, and insurance compliance standards while continuously monitoring performance metrics. Identify and mitigate potential supply chain fraud risks and maintain strict compliance with client routing guidelines.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage.
- Confident communicator, comfortable with cold calls and objection handling.
- Organized multitasker who can manage high-volume tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with external partners.
- Team-oriented, coachable, and motivated to grow within a collaborative environment
