Carrier Development Manager

\n

Position Summary:

\n

The Carrier Development Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the customer operations department, ensuring efficient order management, timely issue resolution, and clear communication across The Hanline Group’s companies. This role leads a team of representatives, promotes service excellence, and supports collaboration between departments to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities:

\n

Own strategic carrier relationships beyond day-to-day load coverage

\n

Build and maintain partnerships with core / high-volume carriers

\n

Relationship Management

\n

• \n
• Maintain regular communication cadence with top carriers
• \n
• Monthly / quarterly touchpoints
• \n
• Address carrier concerns and service issues
• \n
• Understand carriers’ network, lanes, and growth goals
• \n
• Quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
• \n
• Annual in-person meetings / events
• \n

Serve as liaison between:

\n

• \n
• Carriers ↔ Operations ↔ Sales
• \n

\n

Measure Carrier Performance & Growth

\n

• \n
• Deliver structured carrier scorecards (service, pricing, compliance)
• \n
• Provide actionable feedback to improve carrier performance and increase lane agreements
• \n

\n

Partner with Operations to:

\n

• \n
• Align freight with carrier networks
• \n
• Encourage carrier growth within your book
• \n
• Reputation & Issue Management
• \n
• Monitor Carrier performance reports
• \n
• External reviews (DAT, Highway, Google, etc.)
• \n
• Proactively address negative feedback , resolve directly with carriers
• \n
• Provide insights to leadership on systemic issues impacting carrier experience and potential roadblocks
• \n

Actively source new carriers via:

\n

• \n
• Cold outreach, Industry events / travel, referrals
• \n
• Focus on strategic lanes, underserved markets
• \n

\n

Oversee onboarding quality and readiness

\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

• \n
• Ability to travel 50% visiting and growing current carriers and developing new relationships
• \n
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
• \n
• 5+ years of sales and account management experience in the logistics industry
• \n
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• \n
• Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
• \n
• Experience in food manufacturing, distribution, or logistics preferred.
