Summary

The Carrier Sales Representative plays a key role within the Road US brokerage team, responsible for sourcing, securing, and managing carrier capacity to support DSV's freight operations. This position builds and maintains strong carrier partnerships to deliver superior service, competitive pricing, and reliable transportation solutions for our customers. The role involves daily carrier engagement, load coordination, rate negotiation, and proactive shipment tracking from pickup through final delivery to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and secure carriers and drivers to cover available freight in a cost-effective and service-focused manner.
• Manage daily dispatch operations, ensuring accurate communication of shipment details to carriers.
• Track and monitor shipments from pickup through delivery, providing timely updates to internal teams and customers.
• Collect and verify all carrier documentation for on-time shipment closeout and billing.
• Build, develop, and maintain long-term carrier relationships to strengthen capacity reliability and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to provide operational support, pricing input, and customer updates as needed.
• Assist with customer service and account management functions to ensure consistent communication and successful delivery performance.
• Stay informed on current market conditions, rate trends, and seasonal fluctuations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Generate new carrier leads and onboard qualified partners to expand DSV's carrier network.
• Proactively identify and resolve shipment or service issues, using sound judgment and effective problem-solving.
• Perform additional duties and project work as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or customer service (3+ years preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of carrier sales experience with a focus on drayage (3+ years preferred).
• Strong understanding of transportation and drayage operations, including carrier regulations and best practices.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Analytical thinker with strong mathematical aptitude for pricing and rate analysis.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Thrives under pressure and demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
• Positive, motivated, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Professional phone presence and effective interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Demands

This position is primarily performed in an office-based environment and involves extended periods of sitting while using a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The role requires frequent verbal communication and listening when interacting with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal team members, both in person and by telephone.

The employee will regularly use their hands and fingers for typing, operating computer equipment, and handling documents. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus when working with computer systems, documents, and other materials.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a collaborative, fast-paced office environment with regular interaction and communication with team members, carriers, drivers, customers, and other internal and external partners. The role requires a balance of independent work and active collaboration to manage carrier relationships, coordinate freight, resolve issues, and support day-to-day brokerage operations.

The position involves frequent use of computers, telephones, and Transportation Management Systems and requires managing multiple priorities and responding to changing operational needs. The noise level is generally moderate and may vary based on office activity, conversations, and telephone communication. Extended or adjusted working hours may occasionally be required based on shipment activity, operational needs, or service requirements.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
