Carton Former Feeder and Packaging Technician
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
This role alternates between feeder and packer responsibilities based on production demand.
A day in this role
You arrive for day shift, review production priorities, and step into the function the floor needs most—sometimes feeding paperboard blanks to keep the formers humming, other times packing clamshell or fry cartons with the right counts and clean glue lines. Throughout the day you move with purpose, toggling between precision, speed, and safety while keeping your area organized and ready for the next run.
When you’re feeding
- Keep a minimum of four machines supplied—lift, pre-break, and place paper blanks into the feed hoppers.
- Be capable of feeding and sustaining six formers as needed.
- Remove plastic from incoming loads and pull the tickets, delivering those tickets to the operator.
- Continuously monitor quality: keep cartons straight, clear loose scrap, and sort when the operator requests it.
- Manage R.S.C. inventory and deliver the needed R.S.C.’s to case packers to support production.
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards in your area.
- Follow all safety requirements, including GMPs, PPEs, and HACCP & JSA regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
When you’re packing
- Catch and maintain six lanes, pulling product from forming chutes at the count mark.
- Carry out basic quality checks—remove defective pieces and replace with good product.
- Verify proper glue application and correct counts in sleeves; complete all quality check-off sheets.
- After checks, position product and place into a bag; then place the sleeve into a bag, bag into a case, and the case onto the conveyor.
- Assist operators by cleaning glue tips as needed.
- Provide relief for other packers during breaks and lunch; help with labeling, repacking boxes, and keeping the work area neat and clean.
- Maintain good housekeeping consistently.
- Follow all safety requirements, including GMPs, PPEs, and HACCP & JSA regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Make and label boxes; fill glue containers for the machines.
- Clean up your work area at shift’s end.
- Check with operators or your supervisor for any additional tasks needed.
In this position, you play a critical role ensuring every sleeve is counted, every glue line holds, and every case reaches the conveyor exactly as it should—safely, cleanly, and on time.
