This role ensures high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and interdisciplinary coordination to support resident outcomes. The Supervisor provides leadership, training, and oversight to ensure efficient workflows, strong clinical practices, and adherence to organizational and payer requirements. |
Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership, Clinical Oversight & CMH Expertise · Serve as a clinical leader and subject matter expert in Community Mental Health (CMH), guiding case management practices in alignment with Medicaid, state regulations, and best practice standards. · Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and leadership to Case Management staff, ensuring appropriate caseload distribution, staff accountability, and high-performing team dynamics. · Lead with a strong foundation in clinical assessment and service planning, including Intake processes, LOCUS administration, and comprehensive Biopsychosocial evaluations. · Oversee and model excellence in the development and authorship of Individual Plans of Service (IPOS) that are person-centered, medically necessary, and compliant. · Drive staff competency through ongoing coaching, training, and performance development, with emphasis on clinical quality, documentation integrity, and regulatory adherence. · Monitor team KPIs, productivity, and clinical outcomes, providing timely, data-driven feedback and corrective action when needed. · Support program growth through active participation in hiring, onboarding, and training, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence. · Ensure efficient operations by overseeing daily administrative functions, including staff scheduling, time management, and payroll approvals.
Clinical Operations, Assessment & Care Coordination · Provide leadership in clinical intake, needs assessment, and level-of-care determinations (LOCUS) to ensure accurate service authorization and appropriate care planning. · Facilitate and oversee IPOS meetings, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, and care conferences, ensuring all plans reflect assessed needs and measurable outcomes. · Ensure staff demonstrate proficiency in identifying clinical needs, translating assessments into actionable IPOS goals, and documenting medical necessity. · Coordinate care across internal departments and external CMH providers, ensuring seamless multidisciplinary collaboration. · Oversee and guide discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate transition to community-based services.
Documentation Excellence, Compliance & Utilization Management · Establish and enforce standards for high-quality, clinically sound documentation, ensuring all entries meet CMH, Medicaid, and payer requirements. · Oversee completion and accuracy of core clinical documents, including Intake assessments, Biopsychosocial, LOCUS, and IPOS, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and funding standards. · Ensure all billable services are documented within required timeframes (24 hours) and meet medical necessity criteria. · Lead Utilization Management processes, ensuring services are authorized appropriately and align with assessed level of care. · Manage payer interactions, including peer-to-peer reviews and authorization processes, ensuring continuity of services and compliance with all deadlines.
Ethical Leadership & Regulatory Accountability · Uphold the highest standards of ethical clinical leadership, ensuring adherence to state licensing requirements, CMH standards, and professional codes of conduct. · Maintain comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations, modeling and enforcing strict compliance across the team. · Ensure staff adherence to organizational policies and regulatory expectations, addressing performance or compliance concerns promptly and effectively.
Strategic Contributions & Organizational Support · Act as a clinical leader within the organization, contributing to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and system alignment with CMH standards. · Perform additional leadership responsibilities and strategic initiatives as assigned to support operational excellence and organizational goals.
Qualification and Education Requirements: · Accepted Levels: LMSW, LMSW, LPC, or LLP (eligible to provide counseling services). · Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field. · Demonstrated skill in providing evidence-based treatment modalities. · Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between program locations as needed.
Preferred Skills: · Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills. · Experience working in behavioral health, rehabilitation, or healthcare settings. · Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation systems. · Ability to navigate complex clinical situations and multidisciplinary environments. · Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
