Position Summary

The Community Service Specialist II independently performs established prevention and intervention services, including individual mediation, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, de-escalation, resource navigation, and follow-up under program protocols and the direction of the Program Manager. This position serves diverse Family Bridges populations, including seniors, parents, caregivers, individuals and families experiencing housing instability, justice-impacted individuals, and other community members with varied service needs. As needed, the Specialist II may also conduct community outreach to promote and educate the community about Family Bridges programs and services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide individual mediation, conflict resolution, prevention/intervention, crisis intervention, de-escalation, resource navigation, and related community support services within established program protocols, seeking guidance or higher-level support for complex or high-risk situations.
  • Conduct outreach as needed to engage community members, promote and educate the community about Family Bridges services, assess needs and safety concerns, and coordinate referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Respond to community concerns and support post-incident response, community healing efforts, and restorative interventions following critical incidents.
  • Provide individual mediation and conflict-resolution services and support structured restorative, wellness, educational, and community engagement activities led by designated facilitators.
  • Maintain working relationships with community members, public agencies, service providers, law enforcement, schools, businesses, and other stakeholders while referring formal partner coordination and agency representation to designated staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, data collection, follow-up records, and reporting in compliance with organizational and program requirements.
  • Use trauma-informed, restorative, healing-centered, and culturally responsive practices in all client and community interactions.
  • Exercise sound judgment within established protocols and work independently and collaboratively in community settings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in community outreach, mediation, crisis intervention, behavioral health, violence prevention, or related human services work.
  • Experience working with diverse Family Bridges populations, including seniors, parents, caregivers, individuals and families experiencing housing instability, and justice-impacted individuals.
  • Working knowledge of trauma-informed care, conflict resolution, restorative practices, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, de-escalation, and community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and respond appropriately in dynamic or high-stress community settings.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and utilize organizational technology systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while following established protocols and supervisory direction.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as program needs require.
  • Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions
