Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explains program policies, procedures, and regulations for participation in specialty court. May conduct individual and family assessments as needed for participants with additional needs.
  • May develop case plans for assigned caseload. Ensures participant compliance with conditions assigned by department head and conducts reviews in accordance with department policy.
  • Maintains and updates chronological documentation reflecting contacts and casework initiated with participant, family members, victims, and service providers.
  • Organizes files and monitors cases from admission through disposition. Updates the judge, program manager, attorneys, and other team members of any change in status.
  • Maintains statistical data and submits reports to department head as specified.
  • May educate the public about diversion programs supervised by Criminal Courts Administration.
  • Monitors urinalysis and drug test results.
  • Maintains high volume of ongoing phone and written communications among program participants, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, family members, court personnel, and other County departments.
  • Makes referrals to treatment and education classes with other agencies while operating within departmental confidentiality procedures.
  • Prepares and submits court reports for court proceedings. Attends court hearings and provides information to the Court as directed by the department head.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the department head.

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters degree in criminology, corrections, counseling, law, social work, psychology, or a related field may substitute for required experience.
  • Bachelors degree AND Two (2) full-time years of experience in criminal justice or human services field.
  • Valid and current drivers license required.
  • Must become TLETS certified within six (6) months of hiring.
  • Skilled in counseling and interviewing.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of criminal courts and community referral sources.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
