Shadows caseworkers who perform full performance level intensive case work services including case management, referral, placement, and assessment/evaluation with the goal of taking on some of these duties while being shadowed by department caseworkers.

SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
Shadows case management activities involving complex, difficult, and complicated problems/cases, assess for safety and risk of individuals and families and shadows/helps in the development of appropriate service and/or treatment plans, on-going counseling and referral services, and determinations of appropriate placement actions.
Shadows/helps with initial needs assessment, ascertaining nature and extent of complaint, severity of problems, and potential dangers to individual/family, and the gathering of information to determine client's/family's medical, employment, economic, educational, and emotional history.
Will assist in reviewing case records for client/family profiles, socio-economic history, financial and social problems, individual perspectives and perceptions, attitudes, behavioral, medical, and other factors, observes interactions of client and family members, and evaluation of social information concerning families with unusual or chronic social services problems.
Will assist with developing and shadows implementation of a treatment plan to provide a variety of social services referrals and to define goals and objectives, helps assigned caseworker determine need for social, behavioral, medical, and/or, psychological services, shadows assigned caseworker in providing crisis intervention, referrals for clients to support agencies, and the monitoring of individual and family progress, cooperation, and acceptance of services.
Shadows members of an interdisciplinary team, participating in defining, establishing, and implementing treatment goals and plans.
Provides opportunities to learn and observe how caseworkers conducts their work in accordance with Title 19 of the Colorado Children's Code and Volume 7.
Shadow and help prepare case records, reports, and documents and complies with state and federal standards in providing case documentation in the Colorado Trails system.
Shadows and assists with the preparation of comprehensive reports that go to the court to make findings and recommendations that affects court-ordered treatment plans. Observes caseworker testimony provided to the court.
Performs other duties as assigned.
