Client Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Cash Applications Associate to join their Accounts Receivable team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$55k - $60k

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for accurately applying customer payments, researching and resolving payment discrepancies, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely cash posting and account reconciliation. Responsibilities of the Cash Applications Associate:
  • Accurately apply customer payments received via lockbox, ACH, wire transfers, credit card, and other payment methods.
  • Research and resolve unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, short payments, overpayments, and unidentified remittances.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances to ensure accurate account balances.
  • Collaborate with customers, banks, and internal teams to obtain remittance details and resolve payment issues.
  • Monitor daily cash receipts and ensure timely posting in accordance with company policies and deadlines.
  • Support month-end close activities, including cash-related reconciliations and reporting.
  • Maintain detailed documentation to support internal controls, audit requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce unapplied cash balances.
  • Assist with customer account maintenance and support Accounts Receivable operations as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Cash Applications Associate:
  • 3 - 5+ years of Accounts Receivable experience with a strong focus on cash applications.
  • Experience processing high-volume customer payments and resolving payment discrepancies.
  • Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Cash Applications Associate:
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience working with lockbox processing and electronic payment platforms.
  • Experience with BlackLine or other reconciliation/close management tools is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audit requests.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent experience).
