Cafeteria Cashier - University of Rochester

Location: Rochester, NY
 Pay: $18.00 per hour

Datrose is hiring Cafeteria Cashiers to support food service operations at the University of Rochester.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable handling money, and can stay organized in a busy cafeteria environment. The primary responsibility is operating the cash register and assisting customers, with additional food service duties as needed.

What You'll Do

As a Cafeteria Cashier, your responsibilities may include:

• Operate a cash register and process customer transactions
• Accept cash payments and accurately make change
• Maintain an organized and properly stocked register area
• Obtain and return assigned cash boxes
• Count cash and complete required end-of-shift cash handling procedures
• Maintain accurate transaction and customer records
• Follow established procedures for non-cash or authorized payment transactions
• Set up or update menu boards and other service information
• Assist customers in a courteous and professional manner
• Help at food service counters during busy periods
• Assist with stocking, cleaning, and other cafeteria duties as needed
• Follow established sanitation, food safety, cash handling, and workplace safety procedures

• Comfortable working with numbers and handling cash accurately
• Strong attention to detail
• Friendly and professional customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively around students, staff, patients, visitors, and coworkers
• Dependable attendance and the ability to work as part of a team
• Willingness to assist with other cafeteria and food service duties as needed
